It is so nice to meet you!

Hi! I’m Josie Kenkel.

I am a graphic design major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I’ve always been passionate about art and creativity, but I chose graphic design because it allows me to combine my love for art, brainstorming ideas, and helping people—especially entrepreneurs. I started creating logos at fifteen, and soon after, began designing merchandise for clubs and organizations I was involved with. These early freelance projects deepened my passion for bringing others’ ideas to life!

Originally from Elkhorn, Nebraska, I’ve spent the past three years in Lincoln while pursuing my degree. Since starting my college education in the fall of 2021, I’ve gained many skills and experiences that have shaped me as a designer. I would describe myself as a go-getter and a determined leader, always excited to take on new challenges. My favorite part of design is collaborating closely with clients, turning their vision into something even better than they imagined, while also working alongside other talented creatives.

While freelance design work has been incredibly rewarding over the years, I'm eager to expand my professional experience in a collaborative, fast-paced environment during my final semester of college. I graduate next May, but I am currently seeking an internship or entry-level position where I can immediately apply my graphic design and marketing skills, with the goal of transitioning into a permanent role after graduation. I’m excited to work under a team of professionals who can offer guidance, feedback, and opportunities for growth.

I’ve had leadership experience as the former Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for Alpha Chi Omega - Xi Chapter, and during my internship at Junkstock, I applied my design and marketing skills in real-world settings. I also manage Instagram content for the food blog An Affair from the Heart, blending my passion for design and social media.

While logo design and branding are personal favorites, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects as a designer. The variety keeps my work exciting, and I love collaborating with different people to bring their ideas to life. I can’t wait to continue growing as a professional as I begin my career.

I’m proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Photoshop, Xd, Canva, and social media scheduling apps like Later. I also have experience with HTML and CSS using Visual Studio Code, and I am always up for learning new things! I am currently learning more about Adobe After Effects and Adobe Dimension.
